Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, Vice President of Lebanon's Supreme Islamic Shia Council, made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from Iran's Qom seminary at the council's headquarters in Hazmieh, south of Beirut.
The delegation, led by Hojatoleslam Seyyed Mofid Hosseini Kouhsari, was in Lebanon to attend ceremonies marking the second anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine and other senior resistance figures.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region amid ongoing U.S. and Israeli aggression.
Hojatoleslam Hosseini Kouhsari offered his condolences over the martyrs, saying the delegation had come to take part in the anniversary ceremonies and to strengthen ties with Lebanon's religious seminaries.
He praised the stance of the Lebanese people and the resistance, and expressed hope that the Axis of Resistance and its nations would remain a constant force in the movement of awareness.
'We Are Proud to Walk This Path'
In his remarks, Sheikh al-Khatib said condolences are shared, adding: "We are proud to be on this path — a path on which no one who walks it is a loser, because it is the path of truth and salvation. It is the path of the prophets and the Imams."
He said the martyrdom of Nasrallah, his companions, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei and other martyrs is a lesson on this path.
"We saw nothing but beauty in these events, just as Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) said before Yazid. We feel severe pain and suffering, but we do not consider it a loss," he said.
Al-Khatib said the current situation has no clear boundaries, but added: "Whoever crosses the sea comes to believe that beyond it there is relief, and we are certain we will reach where we are meant to arrive."
He acknowledged the situation is difficult and the pain intense, but noted that the people are enduring it with patience. "As long as our efforts are on the right path, we ask God not to waste them," he said.
'Iran Stood Against the Mightiest Power in History'
Al-Khatib pointed to Iran's stance against what he described as the mightiest force in history — one that controls wealth and economics yet was defeated before the Islamic Republic and failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
"Today the world's main concern is Iran and the Shia, while no one imagined Iran would stand up to this massive power," he said.
He described Israel as nothing more than a U.S. military base, adding: "As long as our goal is God and we stand on the side of truth, we will not be afraid. I am optimistic that a day will come when we say the eye defeated the drill, just as happened in 2000."
'We Must Not See Through a Sectarian Lens'
Al-Khatib also addressed the plight of displaced people whose homes have been destroyed and whose loved ones' graves have been exhumed.
"We are not in a reality of a homeland that can save these people from their suffering," he said. "But we do not see through a narrow sectarian lens; we look at others from a national perspective."
He said the government has abandoned its people at their time of greatest need, and stressed that all efforts must be mobilized to pull the people out of their suffering together.
